The Livestock Handler Intern assists with the livestock program at the 1865 Mahaffie Stagecoach Stop and Farm. Responsibilities include performing daily farm chores, assisting staff with historic programming and events, and performing light administrative tasks to support operations.

Qualifications

Experience: A minimum of one year of experience working around and with large animals is preferred. Must be sixteen years or older.

Education: This intern role is ideal for someone with interest in furthering their career or studies in animal studies, historic sites, or other related careers.

Licenses & Certifications: None required.

Environmental or Physical Demands: This job requires work around large animals who can at times be unpredictable. Work at the job site also involves navigating uneven terrain, climbing, stooping, and carrying materials related to the job. Exposure to dust and other environmental elements will also be required and work is done both indoor and outdoors, requiring exposure to heat and cold as well as other elements of weather.
